Tribunal Awards Factsheet

As a result of a change in the law, it is now possible for Employment Tribunal Awards and ACAS Settlement Awards to be enforced using Shergroup High Court Enforcement Officers as if they were CCJs. The new scheme called "The Employment Tribunal Fast Track Scheme" was introduced on 6th April 2010.

If you have an Employment Tribunal Award, or if you are advising someone who is in receipt of an Award, you can use our online form to instruct a Shergroup High Court Enforcement Officer to attend at the former employer's address to enforce payment.

(Alternatively, you may choose to use the 'Fast Track' allocation system operated by Registry Trust Ltd, who will then allocate your case to a High Court Enforcement Officer for enforcement via the cab-rank principle but if you do this we can’t guarantee you will end up with one of our expert officers).

To take advantage of the scheme your Award must be:

  • over £600, which may be made up of the amount of the Award, plus the costs and interest which were awarded to you
  • and the Award should be less than 6 years old - some people get confused about long they can enforce an Award but it is 6 years from the date of the Award
This means our new system allows successful employees to re-open their efforts to make sure they are paid even if in the past their efforts to get their money were thwarted by ineffective enforcement officers. We would encourage you to try again to enforce your Award if you know that your old employer is still trading!

To use our service a fee of £50.00 is payable. This is paid to the High Court when sealing the paperwork (which is called "the Writ of Fieri Facias").

When completing this form we would recommend you have your Tribunal or ACAS paperwork handy. If you need some help in doing this - give us a call - we don't charge for helping you get an Award to us for enforcement - it's all part of the service!

But don't let that put you off - instructing us is easy! If you complete the form on this website you can either pay the fee using a credit or debit card, or you can just fill in the boxes and when you get to the end arrange to print it off and send it to us with a cheque for £50.00 made payable to "Shergroup".

A Shergroup Legal Advisor will be able to help you on all these matters so for more information contact Shergroup today on:
